Post-Ida Updates for the 2021 Sporting Season from Terrebonne Parish Recreation
10/15/2021 02:59 PM
PUBLIC NOTICE for TPR 2021 Sporting Seasons from Jim Wendell, TPR Administrator:
The staff of Terrebonne Parish Recreation continues to keep those affected by Hurricane Ida in our thoughts and prayers. All lost some, but some lost all and our recovery as a community will take some time. The majority of the buildings, gyms, fields, and recreation areas of the parish that are managed by one of the 11 Recreation Districts have sustained damages as well. Repairs have started in some areas, while other facilities will need to be reconstructed. Recreation buildings and properties that are currently usable are still being used as staging areas for recovery equipment and supplies, as sites for displaced housing, sites for recovery distribution, and for other recovery and relief operations.
After surveying the areas and having discussions with the managing districts over the facilities, TPR will cancel the 2021 tackle football, cheerleading, and volleyball seasons due to circumstances out of our control. 2021 Basketball has also been suspended for the original advertised season dates with the hopes of it being pushed back to January 2022. Please follow our Facebook page for real-time program updates and announcements.
