TPCG WILL EXPEDITE ANY & ALL PERMITS & INSPECTIONS IMMEDIATELY!
Building and trade permits are still required for repairs - ONLY THE FEES HAVE BEEN WAIVED (both residential and commercial for repairs due to Hurricane Ida). The purpose of having building permits is to ensure that the work is done safely and to current code standards through the permit review and inspection process. Below are the easy steps to obtain a permit for your home.
Steps to get your electrical service reconnected if you have damage:
- Hire a qualified licensed electrician (your choice).
- Your electrician will contact the Permit Office to apply for a building permit at (985) 873-6567, online at www.mypermitnow.org, or My Government Online mobile app.
- Once work is completed, you or the electrician can contact the Permit Office to schedule a final electric inspection by calling (985) 873-6568.
- After the final electric inspection is passed, you or the electrician will call Utilities at (985) 873-6357 to be placed on the reconnect list. All three area utility providers are serviced at this number.
The steps for roof repair or other related damage repairs are very similar:
- Hire a qualified licensed contractor (your choice), or you can perform certain repairs yourself if the total cost is under $7,500.
- You or your contractor will then contact the Permit Office to apply for a building permit at (985) 873-6567, online at www.mypermitnow.org, or on the mobile app My Government Online.
- Once the permit is issued and the work is underway, you or your contractor will contact the Permit Office at (985) 873-6568 to schedule any required inspections that are listed on the permit.
- After all inspections are successfully completed, the permit will be closed out.
Commercial repairs and electrical reworks follow the same procedures and are applied for in the same manner except that work must be done by a licensed contractor.
This is for your safety & the safety of your family & to rebuild TERREBONNE stronger than ever.
