Parish Pres. Announces Waiver of Building Permit Fees for Storm-Related Damages

As a result of the damage caused by Tropical Storm/Hurricane Barry, and in an effort to speed recovery and a return to normalcy, Parish President Gordon Dove has announced the waiver of fees associated with residential and commercial building permits needed for the repair of storm damage. As a result of the Emergency Declaration issued by the Parish President and the authority given to him therein, and in accordance with the provisions of Section 109.3 of the Terrebonne Parish Code of Ordinances, Parish President Gordon Dove has granted a temporary waiver of all fees related to all building permits, including trades, for all repairs to correct damages arising from and directly associated with Tropical Storm/Hurricane Barry. This temporary waiver of fees, for a period not to exceed 90 days from the date of the Emergency Declaration, in no way removes the requirement for adherence to all federal, state, and local building codes. Building permits are still required; only the associated fees are waived for 90 days.
Building permits may be applied for in person at the Permit Office in Suite 100 in the Government Tower Building located at 8026 Main Street, Houma, LA 70360. Regular Permit Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or you can apply online anytime at mypermitnow.org. A public notice will be provided when the 90-day fee waiver period ends. Residents should continue to report any storm-related damage to the Emergency Operations Center at (985) 873-6357.
